Activestills Book, Photography as Protest in Palestine/Israel, 2016 // 25×20 cm, 320 pages, Soft cover, English, Pluto Press, London // Book design for a collective of photographers, documenting 10 years of the popular struggle in Palestine // Our connection to the Activestills Collective and its agenda is strong and personal. The work process involved an intimate collaboration with the book’s editors and photographers. In particular, the selection of photos was a challenging process: nearly every photo in Activestills’ 40,000-image archive reflects a world of political contestation and a dense feeling of injustice. Eventually, we selected just under 500 photos, through which we reflected Activestills’ decade of photographic activism. Choices related to the book’s design, sought to strike a balance between its rich academic content and its emphasis on photographic content and emotional affect (Editors: Vered Maimon, Shiraz Grinbaum; Text: Miki Kratzman, Ariella Azoulay, Haggai Matar, Ramzy Baroud, Simon Faulkner, Meir Wigoder, Sharon Sliwinski, Ruthie Ginsburg).
