Bezalel Academy Graduate Exhibition, 2015 // Visual Identity, including: Imagemaking and type design, printed and digital materials, signage system, merchandise and website // In 1924 Professor Boris Schatz, the founder of Bezalel, published his book “Rebuilt Jerusalem – Daydream”. It presented an extreme utopian description of Israel/Palestine in the year 2018. Schatz describes a prosperous country, full of culture and sublime artistic achievement. A fruitful and plentiful land, wide ranging educational institutes and culture, where the third temple is built – open to all religions and used as an art museum.
The graphic identity transcribes with a sequence of a hundred years of the history of Bezalel, starting with the iconic text of Schatz through classical drawing traditions, and tries to present a synthesis with the local reality of today. Along with the Oriental icons, the imagery that is presented relates to the Israeli political reality of 2015, where the place of art and culture in the society is argumentative.
